There has been a lot of press comment about a 'Supermarket Petrol Price War'. For the average motorist this isn’t going to really make a great difference when filling their fuel tank.

A difference of 2p per litre when adding 40 litres would only save £0.80. However for some like myself filling a tank with 50 litres of Diesel with a 5p price differential will save £2.50. As the tank is filled around once a week then were talking £10.00 per month so I suppose it does add up but is it worth the inconvenience of driving around looking for the lowest price?

Not really which is why I know where the major supermarkets offering 24 hour fuel service are on the major routes in the Northern part of England. Why these particular supermarkets? Well because there within 0.5 miles of the main roads, have cafes offering coffee for around £0.65 at Tesco compared to motorway services at £2.00 per cup and low cost meals if I need one.

I haven't listed any sites for Morrisions or Sainsbury simply because I haven't found any 24 hour fuel services for them anywhere in the right locations

There are greater cost savings to be made re-fueling yourself with coffee etc. than filling your tank with Petrol or Diesel!!

The Downside? Tesco Cafes aren't open 24 hours. The usual is 8am - 6 pm apart from Thursdays which can be up to 8.00 pm and Sundays which are 10.30 am to 3.30 pm but I suppose you can't have it all as they aren't trying to compete with the Motorway Service Areas.
